IDE Controller problem

I've get an error for Intel 82371SB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller:
"This device has been disabled int he hardware. In order to use this device, you must re-enable the hardware. see your hardware doc. for details(code29)."

I have no docs. So what can I do. I've just reilstall the win95 on a PII system.
What can I do to solve the problem ?

Howdy:

The required driver should be on the systemboard driver cd for that motherboard.. If you don't have it, then go to the motherboard manufacturers website and get it from there..

1. I don't understand why I get an error in Device Manager-> Hard disk controllers :Intel 82371SB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller because HDD and CD drive are connected to SCSi interface and HDD work fine.
2. I have no posibility to change IRQ from BIOS. In SCSI setup the tree HDD, CD and CD get a SCSI ID respectivelly 0, 3 and 7 but I have no posibility to change them.

I have no idea where can I see the type of the motherboard because in device manager I have only Motherboard resources position and on yhe motherboard I saw only a IBM FRU 93H1758 inscription on a piece of paper.

You could try downloading one of the hardware identification packages to find out what motherboard you have. Then get the drivers from there.
Try Aida, Belarc, or Sandra.
On 95 the IDE is identified, but the wrong drivers are loaded because of something missing.
Try a google search for "missing CD drives" for a detail of what is wrong and the correction.
You can also get the correction from the Intel site.

If your devices are scsi, disable the onboard ide controllers in your cmos setup. You don't need them enabled if you aren't using them. Make sure you have the latest scsi drivers for your controller.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

1. I can see the network. It was a cable fault.
2. The error in Device manager is still present.

So I can work even in this condition...
