I have installed an "Ultra ATA IDE Controller card" to use as an extra hard drive connector.
Installed as instructed but to no avail!
Device Manager: This device cannot start (code 10) error.
Went to Microsoft for help!!!!! and it said to install service pack 2 to resolve problem but again to no avail!

Any ideas welcome.

thanks,
Loretta

What brand? I had a SIIG Ultra 66 IDE card, I had to replace with a new Ultra 133 card. The 66 would not work with XP, no matter what SIIG and MS said.

Brand is Connectland with a Silicon image chip.
Full name: "Ultra ATA/133 IDE RAID Controller card. The brochure says it can be set up with or without the RAID function depending on the driver installed but Windows always installs it with RAID.

Windows will always list it as a RAID controller.
This has nothing to do with the underlying issue.

Your choices are:

. ignore the messages
. Try from SIIG, Intel and/or Microsoft Download a driver that stops the messages.

I would start with Intel.

Finally got the card to work with different drivers and all disks connected to it were able to be accessed. But now they have disappeared. Any clues?

Thanks everyone who offered help. I found that my windows was corrupted which didn't help.
