Icons not showing in taskbar

ok I can't seem to find a fix for this, but recently my computer just decided it was no longer going to display some icons in the taskbar. This being on my laptop two that I like having there is the wireless connection and the battery life. Of course I have doubled checked to make sure they are selected to show in the taskbar, but yet they still don't show up. Any ideas?

Are you hiding inactive icons via Taskbar Properties?

Have a look at this thread and see if you can apply any of the suggested fixes.

I found the problem..this string value was missing from the registry for some reason.
