Help me please....

My old Lappy is failing fast, it's an ibm thinkpad 600, Type 2654.

When I boot up this machine I get a load of error messages and I alwasy have to put the date and time in.

After taking it apart I cannot see a bios battery, does it have one ? I did not want to take it completly apart but assume that this is the problem as it is not holding the time and date in memory when powered off.

Thanks for any help.

The BIOS battery is located under the memory cover, sort of tucked in the corner. It is usually yellow in color, and has a short white cable to a tiny plug. It tucks back under the case edge after replacement.
