I have just installed a new hot swap drive in my Netfinity 5000 Server. I accidentally hit the continue button on the initial install and this disk became an ONLINE disk in my Array. I wanted to make this disk a Hot-Spare disk. Is there anyway to remove the status of this new disk from ONLINE to a Hot-Spare disk? So far everything that I have read you can't change it.

Thanks

Most likly the drive is ONL in array B since the only way you could add it to your existing array is if you did a logical drive migration.

If it is a single drive in array B then just delete that array and setup the drive up has your HSP.

Ray thank you for your reply,
Well being new at this I did a logical drive migration and it came up with an error "Rebuild failed on logical drive 1 of controler 1." After reading further I have noticed that you can't remove a drive that is online. I took the drive out and hoped that I could delete it this way but that didn't work.
If I delete my original array will that wipe out all the data on the hard drives?
Any other suggestions?

Gary

yes you will lose everything if you delete your existing array. At this point if it has attempted to add that drive in to the array it may have chanced the stipe order so you will not be able to go back, once a logical drive migration is started there is no way to return to original config other then delete/create array and restore for backup.
