I have seen another few people posting laptop-related questions on here, so I hope this is okay...

I have bought a second-hand IBM 240X laptop, but do not have a CD ROM drive with it. I only have a external floppy.

The HD on the laptop is formatted, and I am trying to instal an OS onto it.

Is there any way I can install an operating system (ideally XP) onto the hardrive via floppy?!?!

Alternatively, since I can boot to a DOS prompt - is it possible to install USB drivers on the laptop via floppy, so that I can acess an external USB hard-drive that I put the contents of my XP installation CD onto?

Alternatively, is there a way of linking two laptops together, so my IBM240X could use the CR drive on the other laptop?

Any help very much appreciated. I dont want to go out and buy an external CD rom drive as I will hardly use the laptop, but really want to get an Operating System installed onto it, so I can connect it onto my wireless network (I will also need to install wireless network card on it via CR rom!! - which hopefully I can do by linking to other machine also)

If you have copied the CD \i386 folder to the USB drive, copy the folder from the USB drive to a new folder \i386 on the laptop hard disk.

Then cd into \i386 on the laptop, and run WINNT
