ialmsbw.sys error message 1

One of my coworkers has recently installed Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 on his laptop. He previously had R1. The laptop meets the minimum requirements and has functioned properly until now. He is getting BSD with a ialmsbw.sys error message. Does anyone know what causes this? And is there a fix? Please help, this is urgent. He is my supervisor.

Is it a fresh install? Seems the ialmsbw.sys has to deal with the graphics driver. Have you ensured that the graphics card is on the HAL for R2?

There was R1 on the laptop at first, it is an upgrade. The graphics card is on the accepted hardware list. I have no clue what to do. I can't get much access while in safe mode, that is the only way the system will run.
