I have an i2004 ip phone, today the screen display "server unreachable" and reset again and again.
Can anyone teach me how to troubleshooting this issue?
Thanks,

The subnet mask is set properly.

I plugged the phone directly into the same switch, but I'm not sure if they are in the same vlan...I'm not a network technician, so may I ask a question? I mentioned in the previous post as below.

"1) IP phone configuration
DHCP disabled
I2004 was assigned with an address 10.10.1.101
The Node IP is 10.10.1.1

When I use the network diagnostic tools on the I2004 to ping 10.10.1.1, 100% package lost.

2) I connected the cord to a laptop configured with the same ip address 10.10.1.101 to ping 10.10.1.1, success!
"

If the ports are not in the same vlan, can they ping each other?

if you can ping the sig server from the laptop and not the phone then it's got to be the phone....

setup your laptop with another free IP address, then try to ping the phone 10.10.1.101

If it's not a hardware failure, it's got to be a configuartion issue.

Question:

If two ports on the same switch can ping each other, but they are configured in different vlan, does this may influence the voice over ip service?

Vlans limit broadcast domains, and normaly a layer 3 switch or router allows inter-vlan conectivity.

Give the phone a new IP address then, don't reuse the old one...

The problem has been fixed.

Yesterday, I intalled a i2050 on my desktop, it booted up successfully, so I focus on the i2004 phone setting and network connection.

Yes, it was a vlan issue. After I change the vlan setting, the phone booted up...

Thanks all!
