I have a small citrix environment and auto-created printers appear to be the bane of my life - my users are coming in over a DSL connection so we get more than our fair share of disconnects and hence printer queue restarts.

At each remote location the user PCs have printer queues setup to print either to printers on windows shares or via print servers (jetdirect or netgear ps110) on their LAN (Win 95 upto XP) - note no active directory involved at the branch. What I am trying to figure out is can I connect printers queues on the citrix server directly to queues at the branches.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated - I am physically appearing at a branch next week so have a chance to fiddle.

Thanks

Hi,

Why don't you turn off Autocreated printers, then configure on each Citrix Server the printers you want that branch to see, then assign the correct permissions to those printers with the branch users? That way, no need for Autocreated printers? I do this for two of my remote sites that have Windows Based Terminals and IP print to their printers.

Hope this helps,
Carl.

That's what I want to do - but it's creating the IP printers that I'm confused about, however, having spent a bit of time last night I suspect that my problem is almost entirely related to a mental blockage when it comes to getting the traffic through firewalls - so I think I have something to try now!

Thanks
