Will, I thought we had it under control. Last night, armed with tips for this web site and the information found on Cisco's web site. I arrived at the switch closet a 9:30pm.
A little shake, but I open hyper terminal and connected to the 6509 and took a quick review of my instructions. Powered the switch down for about ten seconds. Repowered the switch and began to glue my self to the monitor.
Yes, it looks just like I was told and boy! it is moving, I did not think I quick enough to catch the " The Cisco System Console" at the exact time. I was not, and I reboot 4 times and then i got smart, I timed it and began to punch the Enter key and sure enough there it is" "enter password",
I type enter and I get the (enable)so I type: set enablepass, enter and I get: enter old password ***********
enter new pasword************, confirm new password***********. I stopped and call my co-worker, woke him up, and asked him to help confirm that we has won the match.
Well, he said if you can enter a command? I think you have gotten it.
so I entered this: set port speed 7/11 10 (enter) sure enough the swith reacted and there was this information rolling across the screen...port 7/11 has joined the brigde.
Well, I added the duplex and went home. I got an email from that co-worker this morning....call me> I knew then that something did not work last night. He can't get into the 6509?????????????????????? Help!
