but reading my cisco books has pushed some of the avaya stuff right out of my brain (kelly bundy syndrome)

I need to remote to an S8300 for system admin, both CM and Intuity. I know onsite I can log in using the reversed IP cable but I need to access this through an IP network. Can I use ASA and the external IP addresses to address the different modules? or is there something more to it then that??

Thanks All

jml2665,

you don't even have to have asa. try telnetting to s8300's ip address (processor ethernet ip address, that is) port 5023 and see how it looks like.
in short, you don't have to use modem access. telnet/ssh works even better (faster).

if you go in via telent you will not be able to access the intuity. Its best to get on to the network then open up internet explorer and go in that way

Thanks, I am curious about using IE to do this. I know I can from the maint port directly, but over the IP network? is it basically the same method, using the IP address of the S8300 or do I use the individual IP addresses to each module like the Intuity?

Also can I use ASA this same way, thats what the customer perfers as they are only interested in doing MAC work
