Hi my problem is the following. I have my access database in a server. I need to make this database so two or more people can open the database at the same time and update the information in it. I tried to open the database in my computer and my coworkers computer we were able to look at the data with no problem but we also need the data base so it can be updated able. The point here is that more than one person can have the database open and it can be able to update the database. is this possible thank you for your help. Wilfer

Make sure the database is in the standard front-end/back-end configuration, and give each user their own copy of the front-end.

how you configure the database to a standard front end and back end configuration.

Easiest way is to use the database splitter wizard.

Tools, Database Utilities, Database Splitter

Read up on it in the help file first.

If you have only a few users, you may not need to split the database. You do need to set up some database options:

Choose the Tools ... Options menu option and click on the [Advanced] tab.
Set:
-- Default open mode = Shared
-- Default record locking = Edited Record
-- Check the 'Open databases using record-level locking' check box.

This works for me, on a database with up to five concurrent users.

I hope that this is useful.
