Hi Guys,

I encountered a problem while migrating from Novell to windows 2000.
in Novell I could have the username (ex: ASmith) then enter the users initials (ex: AS)almost like an alias to make programs that only work with login initialls automaticaly login.
Now with Windows I need to create the same invironment,("because it's to much of a assle for the user to type his\her initalls"), however I can not find that feature in the Active directory.
Does anyone have a sugestion?

Thank you

You know, Novell is very flexible. I cannot say the same things about Windows 2000 and AD. NDS is really nice.
Using Windows 2k and AD you need a completelly different thinking to your network, and the services that it delivers.

That is very true that Novell is very flexible. There is not a way to do what you are wanting to do. Your users must accept certain things in order to get better security and faster functionality.

I did not think there was a way but Ijust wanted to give it a shot.
Thank you all

There are some things that you can work with in active directory. The user logon name, the name shown in the users folder in active directory, and the email name can all be different. You can have a user in the users folder that shows as John Doe, with a loggon name of JD, and his email can be Doe.John@company.com.
