I have forgotten My database password 4

How do I reset the database password when I have forgotten it and I am unable to access the password utility

The Access database-level password is set up specifically to keep people who do not know the password from opening it or the objects it contains.<br>

Only in the case where you have another database or program with the password stored in it can you open the db without knowing the password. If you can get in that way, then you can import/export all the objects to a new db without the password.

If you are talking about a password set at database level, and not user level security password. Go to the location below for code that will break the password. It's near the bottom of the page called basDatabasePassword. This code will not work with Jet 4 (Access 2000) but it will work on any Jet 3.x databases.<br>

Remember that it's illegal the do this to someone elses database if you don't have their permission.<br>

rhicks, thank you! Do you know if there is a similar code sample available for user-level security or Access 2000? This question has come up several times in this forum.

To my knowledge no, not on the Jet4x engine. At least not for free. I have seen references to programs that are advertised to break Jet4x (Access 2000), but I haven't tried it. If I happen across a free version of the code, I will let you know.<br>
