I have a release 5.0 site that I posted in the past about. I have an MGC card that had the incorrect IP address within that card and I changed it to match the correct IP of the loop and shelf. I attempted to bring that MGC up this afternoon and after a long delay the display showed the correct loop and shelf. Here is my issue. I am not able to IDC that card and all of the channels on that card are disabled. I am also not able to get any other cards to work in that cabinet. This is what I was seening when that card registered:

SRPT077 IPMG[12 1]: Loadware version mismatch detected. Adding to sequential upgrade que
ue.

SRPT210 Reg GRANTED for IP[10.12.90.27] IPMG[12 1] TS[-691737569]

Can I complete a loadware version mismatch correction via element manager or do I need to replace this card?

KCFLHRC, The following happened when I had attempted that upgrade: SRPT063 IPMG[12 1]: Unable to initiate Centralized Software Upgrade.

Should I just replace that MGC or will the gold image procedure work?

I bet the Gold Image procedure will work. It has always worked for me.

If you connect to the MGC card and watch it on boot up and it says something about missing XML file then I think the Gold Image trick will work.

I attempted that command again and this is what happened.

So close.

I would need to remove the TLAN and ELAN network cables to perform this gold image task, correct? I would want that isoloated from the network..Once that has been complete I would then plug those cables back in and reboot that MGC, correct?

I looked at that thread but that would definetly ebe service effecting in the entire pbx. I will try your procedure first or replace that card.

KCFLHRC (TechnicalUser), Hopefully you are in today? I was finally able to get that MGC card removed from my site and installed it in a non-active shelf at another location. I attempted that gold image but when I seleted option 2 force csp to boot nothing happened. I selected the ? and selected the option for csp boot. I am not 100% sure that this is gold imaged. I have those results below:

Should I be all set to plug this MGC card back into that 1000E release 5.0? It looks like my IP address is still programmed in this card. Technically all that I need to do is plug this MGC card back into loop 12 slot 1 and the ELAN/ TLAN cables and it should read off the C.S., correct? Thanks

Yep, plug it back in and see if it upgrades it's loadware.

Did you do all the steps? Looks like to me you left out the bottom portion to format after step 9 you need to do the format.

1. Reboot the MGC Card
2. as it is booting type <CTRL> B just after the creation date is printed and the
{VxWorks Boot} prompt should be displayed.
3. at the prompt type in “test”
4. choose option b to change boot options
5. select option 2 to force csp to boot from gold image once
6. select option 0 to return to previous menu
7. press return key to exit menu and return to prompt
8. enter @ at the prompt
9. the mgc will boot to the gold image

To format the compact flash from the gold image you must press <CTRL> I when prompted during the MGC gold boot. This will bring up a VxWorks prompt ->, At the prompt enter, diskformat “all” This will format the MGC’s internal compact flash. Reboot the MGC and when it registers to the call server it will automatically upgrade.

I don't think you did the procedure correctly. After step 6 you should have hit the return key to get back to the prompt. Then enter @ to reboot the card. Then while it is booting you enter CTRL I and do the procedure at the bottom of the page.

Ok, I will try that in the morning and keep you posted.. Thanks

KCFLHRC (TechnicalUser), I did come in early and believe that I had succeded in creating that gold image on my MGC card. The below is what I see when this MGC boots up. Now I would need to assign IP address 10.12.90.27 to this card again, correct. I am not getting that option when I press control I. It looks like I am missing a step someplace again?

Disregard, I answered my own question..... I will keep you posted..

if you disable secure transfers it won't do anything to the call server. Just go to ld 117 and disable, then go to 143 and run your upgrade. Once that is done you can enable the secure transfers. I've done this when updating firmware and haven't had any issues.

All, the gold image did not get me any farther. I am suspecting that this MGC card can not be recovered. Would everyone recommend that I replace this MGC card at this time?

The below is what happened today: (getting this MGC to register correctly should not be this difficult)

I just need to add the correct IP address in the new MGC card and I should be able to plug this back in as is, correct? Thanks

I suppose the card could be bad. Maybe try Janaya's fix. Worth a shot.

It seems like the card replacement might be easier at this point. This is a hospital and they can't afford to go down. I have not done this transfer procedure before and would not feel comfortable attempting that on a live system. I will replace this card sometime next week and keep everyone posted. If that does not work I will need to try something else....

Great news everyone! I also want to thank everyone for their help especially KCFLHRC (TechnicalUser). Luckily replacing the MGC card took care of the issue. The below is what transpired during this card replacement via the PBX: (I completed all IP setting at this site instead of another PBX)
