I have a release 5.0 site that I posted in the past about. I have an MGC card that had the incorrect IP address within that card and I changed it to match the correct IP of the loop and shelf. I attempted to bring that MGC up this afternoon and after a long delay the display showed the correct loop and shelf. Here is my issue. I am not able to IDC that card and all of the channels on that card are disabled. I am also not able to get any other cards to work in that cabinet. This is what I was seening when that card registered:

SRPT077 IPMG[12 1]: Loadware version mismatch detected. Adding to sequential upgrade que
ue.

SRPT210 Reg GRANTED for IP[10.12.90.27] IPMG[12 1] TS[-691737569]

Can I complete a loadware version mismatch correction via element manager or do I need to replace this card?

The MGC card will automatically upgrade it's loadware. It can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Someone told me that I need to do this change in LD 143. Do you know the commands? I also had believed it would get the loadware information off the CPPM card.

The command in LD 143 for the upgrade of firmware is UPGMG X X , in your case X X would equal 12 1

You can also do a UPGMG STAT to see what is going on

I really appreciate the info. I will give that a try now...

Here are some of the commands in LD 143

UPGMG x UPGMG <supl shelf> UPGMG <supl shelf> FORCE UPGMG

.

Have you seen the PBX sysload or INI during this process?

It will be fine. It will only interrupt service on that IPMG which is 12 1. It won't affect the others. Now if you issued the UPGMG ALL command then yes, it could affect all of them.

If for some reason the upgrade still fails you will have to, what we call, flatten the MGC card to the gold image. Here is a procedure to do that. You will have to be connected to the MGC card on port 0 of the octopus cable to do this.

MGC Default to Gold Image

To get the MGC Card to boot to the Gold Image you must get to the MGC bootrom prompt. Use the following steps to do this.

1. Reboot the MGC Card
2. as it is booting type <CTRL> B just after the creation date is printed and the
{VxWorks Boot} prompt should be displayed.
3. at the prompt type in “test”
4. choose option b to change boot options
5. select option 2 to force csp to boot from gold image once
6. select option 0 to return to previous menu
7. press return key to exit menu and return to prompt
8. enter @ at the prompt
9. the mgc will boot to the gold image

To format the compact flash from the gold image you must press <CTRL> I when prompted during the MGC gold boot. This will bring up a VxWorks prompt ->, At the prompt enter, diskformat “all” This will format the MGC’s internal compact flash. Reboot the MGC and when it registers to the call server it will automatically upgrade.

Thank you for that procedure. Hopefully the upgrade proczedure will work.

KCFLHRC, I have been a little reluctant about doing this procedure during the day to this specific MGC. I am probably going to complete this command later today around 3:30 PM when the system traffic slows down. Have you never seen anything happen when uploading to a specific MGC card? What I am asking is there no way that the PBX would sysload for any reason? Thanks

I have never seen the PBX even hiccup when adding an MGC to the Sequential Upgrade. I think you will be fine. But if you have any doubts at all then by all means wait. Let us know how it works out.

I will do this upgrade later today and let you know what happened. I am going to be completing this via modem and once that upgrade is complete if I am able to IDC the MGC card then this upgrade was successful....

I don't think you will be able to IDC the MGC card since it sets in slot 0. Never tried it though.

I just tried to IDC one of my MGC cards and it does not work.

That is weird. I did IDC one of my other MGC locations and it worked. I also did a STAT on the card and it showed all of the channels ad disabled.

The below is my other MGC:
