Hi everyone, This is my problem,
I was worried that my firewall was not on so I changed the settings on my PC,
I am on Broadband with a Linksys Etherfast 5 Port Workgroup Hub/Zoom X3 ADSL modem for my PC and Mac.

I have 2 connection icons showing
Local area connect :100 Which when I check properties says REALTEC RL8139 Fast Ethernet NIC

Local Area connect 3: 400 which properties show 1394 Net Adapter
the PC is first in line.

I have no problems getting on line with my Mac, all is as it was,.hence I am able to get here :)
However if I want to go to IE or check my email on the PC I get a screen asking if I wish to connect and a dial up screen appears with the Freeserve Broadband connection. I have checked never dial a connection and I thought I had changed the other settings back, but to be honest I cannot remember them exactly.
Is there a simple way to reset all this?
I dont really want to do system restore Unless I have to!

Kindest wishes

I read all the info you provided links for , and tried to carry out the disable. BUT to no Avail. I get a message that
this operation cannot be carried out as a disconnect or connect operation is being carried out.
This is my paraphrasiing. but I think you can understand the point.
Please can you give any further help.
In the meantime I will close down the PC and restart to see if that helps.
Thanks

Hmm That restart didnt do anything, I also noticed the above message of my second reply applied to a Mac minibridge.
so I then realised I should disable the 1394 bridge and tried that BUT again the messge said
Not possible to disconnect at this time as it is being used by one or more protocols that do not support Plug and Play
or may have been initiated by another user or system account.

Cheers
