I went into Server Manager, Users and changed a users name from Sally Jones to Sarah Smith. I clicked refresh but nothing happens. How can I force it to refresh?
It shows as Sally Jones in Outlook global address list as well.

Have you have been through all the tabs under user and changed the name? I would double check I have changed the name in all the tabs except the email address where I would add the new name and set it to default. Once this is done it normally takes a server reboot for the change to take complete effect - although there may some serices you could restart to avoid a reboot.

If your users are using Outlook in Cached mode then what you THINK is the GAL is really the OAB. Force a rebuild of the Offline Address Book and it will update.

I hope you find this post helpful.

I've had this same problem. What fixed it for me was rather than double clicking my user in server manager and changing the AD properties display name was to single click the user and use the "Rename User" wizard on the left menu. I have no idea why the first way didnt work and the other way did...

They say to use the wizards on SBS but this wizard is as many steps as just changing through AD users.

One way to force the OAB to rebuild is to just delete or rename the .oab files on your system. This will trigger their recreation, and when rebuilt, they will be current.
