Hi guys

I have an announcement board, it's a TN2501AP HW02 FW007 board. It have recorded 33 announcements and the remaining time is 3693 seconds. I know this boards has 33 ports, but I'm not sure if I just can record 33 announcements. The problem I'm facing, is I can't record new announcements, I dial 150 + announcement extension, and when I dial 1 to start recording, the call ends.

I'm working over a S8500 System and CM 2.0.111.4

I don't know what is causing this situation, what can I do?

Thank you for your time

make sure whatever station is dialing the announcement access code has console permissions set in the station COS
Post the list trace of your attempt if still failing. i doubt the announcement board is at fault.

perhaps if there is a test announcement you can record over you can see if you can overwrite previous announcements but not create new ones.

I still say check your COS

Thank you for your answer Kyle

Well, the extension has console permissions. I copy via ftp a wav file to the board, and assign it to an announcement extension, so when I dial that extension, the announcemente plays without problem, but If I try to record a new announcement manually I just can't do it, I made a list trace station, but I just receive this, so I can't detect something wrong:

LIST TRACE

10:32:06 dial 1504001
10:32:06 term announcement 4001 cid 0x9b7

10:32:06 idle announcements 2 cid 0x9b7

When I dial 1 to start recording, I receive this line: G711MUss:eek:ffps:20rn:1/1172.16.64.82:2396

and the process finish
:(

And you're sure there's no current open FTP sessions to the board when you're trying?

I got what's below when I tried. Did you edit any lines out of your trace? I see voip data on mine, but not on yours. Are you on a digital or IP set?

Maybe you're on a digital set in a PN that has no media resources to the announcement board's network region? Maybe the network regions between the announcement board and IP set aren't set up properly to speak between them...

Have you been able to use this station before to record announcements? Can you attempt from a station that is in the same PN, even the same G650 as the VAL board?

BTW. The idle announcements line of your trace is what's tipping me off to perhaps a lack of resources to establish a talk path between the VAL and the set your're using. Could be that the VAL is tied up with something, but I think verifying voice can get to that network region from where you are is a good idea.

It's really weird, the ftp session is closed, and I can record announcements in another board (TN750CP) from my telephone. Some weeks ago I could record messages from my extension in that board. My extension is digital, not VoIP, and it suddenly stops working.
I didn't edit the trace, I just receive that information :(

Dumb question....you can put in a wav file...and it will play, but your not able to manualy record over it with a phone?...Is the announcment protected?

protected announcement? Didn't even think of that.

Can you create a new announcement in change announcements, assign an extension, and record that?

I would first ensure that a speech path can be opened with the VAL board - because the lack of being able to establish an audio stream would cause this problem.

Can you at least call an announcement extension directly from your digital set and get that announcement played back to you? That would at least prove that IP-TDM between your set and VAL are ok. If you can't, pls post that list trace!

Well, the announcement extension isn't protected, I can create new announcements and associate it with some .wav files, but I still have the same trouble when I try to record announcements manually, but there is something interesting about it, I can erase the announcements manually, I dial 150 (FAC to access announcement board) + Extension + 3, so the message is deleted, so, if I can delete the announcements, why I can't to record it, it's really frustrating :(

I can dial to announcements extensions from my extension and it plays without problem.

Ther is my trace:

14:21:43 idle announcements 2 cid 0x1361

that's all the information I received

This is the part where I take the card out of the cabinet, curse loudly at it, and try again.

Thank you Kyle, I really appreciate your time and your help, I didn't want to take the card out of the cabinet because I thought it was dangerous, but I did it and after that it worked, I can record announcements again.

Thank you, thank you thank you, you save my skin :)

Funny story - I got a 2224 line card sent to me that noone could bring up. reset board long repeat 10 couldn't do it. I had it slotted, not coming up for a couple of weeks, and because I wanted peace and quiet, and through laziness, I just pulled the plug on the G650 cabinet to kill the fans.

When I powered that sucker back on, the card noone could bring up was all and back to life on its own. Dirty hard reset on the cabinet fixed a card - go figure.

Glad it worked for you!
Even happier that my technique to alleviate frustration was what fixed it too!

and in case you didn't know, busy board 1AXX before, and release board 1AXX after reseating it are "best practices" :D

Excellent Kyle, thank you very much again :)
