I am working with a company that has a full T1 line between their headquarters and a remote location. There is a Cisco router on both ends. It is extrememly
s-l-o-w, so much so that it takes a long time to log on.

Apparently there is so much internet traffic due to all the viruses that are running rampid currently. Is there a way to monitor the serial ports on each router to see the volume and the type of traffic that is hitting them and tell for sure whether or not it is causing the slowdown?

Have a look at a tool called Multi Router Traffic grapher which you can find here:

Will show traffic volume, but not type of traffic.

Can I assume from your question that you do not in fact hace a T1 leased line, but in fact two T1 internet connections, and you are connected via a site to site VPN or something?

Thank you for the reply Andy.

They have a T1 line connecting the 2 sites. I'm a bit confused because they also have internet access through a 256K T1 (fractional?) The company thinks that they only have one T1 line, but my guess is that the have it fractionalized with 256K to the internet and the rest to their remote location? Their are 2 separate jacks on the wall labeled T1.

I know for a fact that the remote location has to travel down to the headquarters first to get internet access, which is pretty goofy. I'm open to suggesions! Thanks!
