I am having difficulty maintaining color when exporting to a jpeg file 2

I am having difficulty maintaining the color of my artwork when I export to jpeg file format. The colors go all funky, seems there is a lighting gel covering the whole thing changing the appearance. When I export to bitmap it looks great!

I am stumped. Any assistance at all is appreciated.

Why are you choosing to export to a JPG? JPGs are the format usually used for raster images such as photos, as they allow for a wide range of colours. For vector files, such as those from Illustrator (without any placed/imported raster images), a GIF is usually the better choice. You can have up to 256 colours in the GIF.

What sort of compression are you applying to the JPG?

Thanks for the reply and I'll take just a moment to say the problem although not solved is local to my computer only. I was exporting to jpeg purely for the purpose of the boss viewing the file in a small size. He doesn't have illustrator and is not interested in learning. Default compression is being utilized as I really didn't care too much about it.

But while you are here another question has come to mind...we will be animating these drawings in flash, do you know which format is the best to use? I do not know flash and our flash person is learning as well. Currently at their request we are using .png format, what do you think?

Fortunately I teach hydraulics for a living otherwise I might be pretty hungry ;-)

A few things to try:

Use "Save For Web" rather than "Export" to create JPEGs.
Check "Edit > Color Settings..." and maybe turn Color Management off.

As for Flash, PNGs will work, although Flash should be able to import Illustrator files, EPS files, and others. They may give better results as vectors stand a better chance of being retained as vectors. I don't know if Illustrator exports vector information in PNG files like Fireworks does, but I think it may rasterize it, which will limit your options.

Also keep in mind that Illustrator can export a Flash SWF file. You can also do simple animations by putting each frame on a different layer in Illustrator and selecting the appropriate options in the export dialog box (File > Export > Macromedia Flash (SWF) > Export As: AI Layers to SWF Frames)

Thanks a bunch! Saving for web worked great! Color management has been off throughout this whole thing so I am cunfused, but, since it works the other way I don't care.

The animation is pretty detailed but I am going to give it a shot and see if it can be done.
