I have many VOIP phones 1140Es and 2004, 2002 and some Soft phones. TDM's are 2616 and 2008 phones. Considering going SIP, what would be the PROs and CONs of going SIP? How will it be better?

I have 4 main nodes

1 on Pentium 4, Rl.s 5.0 and Sig Serv

2 on Pentium 2, Rl.s 4.50 and Sig Serv

1 68060, Rl.s 4.50 and Sig Serv

I have seven Opt 11s and six Opt 61C and several fiber & carrier remotes. All VOIP phones are comming off of one of the 4 main nodes.
I am using Cisco FXS and FXO cards for anologue over IP. Commming off of one of the 4 main nodes.

I am using Symposium 5.0 soon to upgrade to Contact Center Manager 6.0 on the pbx that is running Rl.s 5.00.

H.323 is the ITU standard and also for voice, video, and data and does have endorsments w IE, Netscape, Microsoft.

SIP, even though it doesn't seem like it, is considered easier to implement. It is faster and more scalable. Seems geared towards real time media, like instant messaging, like the frigg'n G4 cell phone commercials I guess.SIP uses layer 7 of the OSI reference model, the APP layer for Conf, telephony sessions over an IP based Network.

-to me, even though H.323 is an International Telephony User's standard, seems like a Nortel standad comparred to SIP which seems like an IP telephony and Data standard. SIP sure seems to be going places fast, I'm like an end user though, gimmie what I'm use to. I don't feel any pressure to switch, but SIP trunks comes up a lot when Customers of mine want to talk about passing media and data they want my company to provide to them.
