I've created a hyperlink in a word document. It works fine while I have the document open. It looks like this: R:\Regulatory Compliance and HS&E\Environmental\Regulation Records\Air\NCIN MACT (40 CFR 63 Subpart EEE)\Recordkeeping\Monthly Review Forms.xls.

The problem is, when I save the document and re-open it, word has changed the hyperlink to this: ../../!norco/Regulatory Compliance and HS&E/Environmental/Regulation Records/Air/NCIN MACT (40 CFR 63 Subpart EEE)/Recordkeeping/Monthly Review Forms.xls.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Thanks,
MJG

Howdy,

First, to answer LilliaBeth's question, no. The hyperlink no longer works.

Thanks for the tip, MacroPod. I'll get with my IT guy at work to see if he'll edit the registry for me. I hope it works. Not a huge problem, just an inconvenience that makes you want to curse MS more than usual.

Thanks again,

MJG

When I use hyperlinks in Word, I enclose them in square brackets, thus []. This causes Word to treat it as a block of text, preventing accidental access etc. I began doing this because hypertext was set to be blue and this caused printing problems. But it had other uses - if you want to use the hyperlink as a hyperlink, use copy-and-paste.

Does this help?

Thanks for the tip, Madawc. I may have to resort to doing something like that. I'm going to see what my IT guy has to say about it first, though.

Thanks again, to all of you.

I believe I have found a better solution for this. Use the following formula (with your path) to create your hyperlinks;
=HYPERLINK("\\Server Name\Folder1\Folder2\folder3\File name.pdf","This is my link")

Still requires editing the properties.
