Hi All,

I was wondering if there is a way to direct a hyperlink to print a document. I know you can always go up and click on the print icon but my curiosity is getting the better of me and I was wondering if there is a solution.

Thanks,
Steph

A Hyperlink probably couldn't because I don't think you can to it with html, though with java script.

Best method may be to insret a command button, but you would have to know the visual basic code to get it to print, and code the button accordingly

"Stupid isn't not knowing the answer, it's not asking the question

A hyperlink is a link TO somewhere/something. A file, a web page, a bookmark. It takes the focus TO that whatever.

I am not sure what the question is exactly. Are you asking if it is possible that clicking the hyperlink will not go to the Address, but Print what is at that address?

If so...nope.

Could you clarify "I know you can always go up and click on the print icon"?

If you click, it will print the document.

Thanks for the posts so far.

I'm thinking there has to be a way, I have seen receipts on webpages that have a link to print this page and when that link is clicked, the print dialog box comes up, but it might be JS

You can create an activeX button that will print the document and format the button to be clear...

If I wasn't Blue, I would just be a Dragon...

The advantage of having something like that eludes me. You could always have a macro but then what could be simpler then clicking on the print icon or pressing CTRL/p on your KB?

As I mentioned before, it is very easy to print by simply pressing the print icon but say I have someone who may not be as experienced. I can direct them to print the document with a nice big link.

My curiosity is what's driving this. Sometimes you get that feeling like "there has to be a way" I just want to know what that way is.

Thanks Y'all

If you click, it will print the document.

I am sorry, but I have been trying to do this, and I can not. Clicking a hyperlink follows the link. Nothing more for me.

You are saying clicking the hyperlink will print the target document without opening it?

no he's talking about that he knows if you click the print icon in word it will print the document referring to the post before that 1 asking for clarification, I think

The Print button, or keyboard shortcut, will print the Active Document. Or, properly re-written, print all active documents. It will not print an unopened document, although it could be re-written to do that.

A hyperlink in Word has four Methods.

AddToFavorites
CreateNewDocument
Delete
Follow

That's it. It has no other action (method). Clicking a hyperlink will not print the document it is pointing to.
