I have a word document that is 50 pages. I want to create an excel sheet where I place a hyperlink to a specific page in the word document rather than to the entire file. Can this be done?

Yes, you need to create bookmarks in the Word Document, then you can hyperlink to a particular bookmark.

I created bookmarks in my word document. I opened by excel spreadsheet and entered a hyperlink into the cell. Then I select my word document and then I click bookmark. I get an error message.

The error message is :
Microsoft excel could not open this file or could not parse a file of this type.
Any suggestions?

Here it is.............it took me a little while to find, but I knew it was here somewhere. The subject is misleading, but check out:

Hi shaleen7,

Although, in typical M$ fashion, it gives nothing away there is a KB Article about this.

Enjoy,
Tony
