I am running W2K and IIS 5. I have published my ASP intranet in IIS and when I try to view it through IE5 I keep getting the following message.

HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden
Internet Information Services

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technical Information (for support personnel)

Background:
You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.

I have been to Microsoft 'support' site and nothing has helped. I have tried to access the site via it's IP as well as its internal name.

The site is configured to get its content from c:\inetpub\ folder on the web server. I haven't created a virtual directory.

Please can somebody point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Oh good, so I'm not half the moron I thought I was. I have this problem too. Could it be from too many security patches and such? It's cgi scripts that don't work for me though. I currently have asp pages that work...
I double checked all my permissions in Windows Explorer and in IIS, and couldn't figure it out...haven't messed with any cgi or perl scripts since then.
I'll check my permissions one more time and let you know if that's the problem.

I know that in IIS4 if you set up a virtual directory there is a checkbox that you must select that lets you execute.

Have you checked out your settings? go to internet services manger and right click the web site that you are having problems with, and click on properites, then go to the home directory tap. check in the application settings area that you have execute permissions set correctly. hope this helps.
