Hey Guys - quick question - need some INfo
I have a vendor who creates their page in a Netscape format

I have told them we do not run Netscape - and are an IE6.0 only shop ( I have no intention of supporting Netscape - esp when they tell me I have to load a version that is over 2 years old because the new version dosent work with their linked downloads)

I know there is a way to format a page so it is displayed the same way in both browsers

I keep thinking it was a simple html tag

Any info guys - I need this so when they come back to me and tell me they cant do it i can tell them the are Full Of Sh*T!

Smell like bulls**t to me too there have always been some differences between ie and netscape but they are moving closer and closer together with every version with the aim of being standards compliant. If the version of netscape they are trying to get you to use is 4.0 tell them to go away and rewrite their code it was the buggiest browser ever. They should be producing cross browser compatible code anyway after all unless its on an intranet you have no control over what browser your visitors use.

A lot of web designers have now decided to stop supporting old browsers altogether in favour of the newer standards compliant browsers (ie browsers which behave and display data in a very similar manner) IE6 and Netscape 7 are now closer than ever in what they support and how they display data. The older versions ie 4 and below are now dinosoaurs and should be consigned to the garbage can.

Using stylesheets (CSS) is a good way of getting similar displays in both browsers

Infinity exists! - I just haven't worked out a way to get there yet.

alot of designers aint all ...
and those making serious sites cant afford to ignore certain browsers
anyway, if you write valid html and be careful with css, you can get working websites in all browsers ...

ie4 and ns4 still make up like 15% of our visitors ...
