When I upload an .htaccess file that I create with NotePad, it of course wants to add the .txt extension. Generally when the upload is complete, I use the "rename" feature of my FTP program to remove the .txt.
However I use one hosting service that for whatever reason, will not show me files that start with a period (even though I DO have the ftp program set to show all files that start with a period). Therefore, I am unable to remove the .txt after the upload is complete.
So my question is, when I upload a file named as .htaccess.txt, will that still work as an .htaccess file? I am hoping that UNIX will automatically remove the .txt, but admittedly do not know.
Thanks for any feedback...
