My HP V40 has been creating files on my hard drive with the name of DOT4_00x. They look like TEMP files, but the create themselves in the directory of the file that I print, and they don't disappear on their own. They also do not have a .tmp extension and their format is unrecognized by Windows 2000 SP3. Any ideas on how to stop these files from creating themselves?

Greetings Shay2501,

When you installed the printer from the CD, what port did you select?

The printer needs the DOT4 setting otherwise it has to create it every time you print a file.

Make sure the port selected is DOT4_00X (where X corresponds to the port number) whether connecting parallel or USB. To select the DOT4, click Other in the list of available connection types.

Kindest regards,

James
