I am using W2000 Pro on a XE3 HP omnibook and somehow in my infinite wisdom I deleted a file or item in the registry when I was trying to cleanup my computer, and of course being the idiot I am did not backup anything but here is the issue:
Everytime I startup or click on the internet or any program for that matter--I get Windows Installer coming up saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." "Click OK to try again.....etc and it is looking for hp toptools agent.msi. I have tried all I know to delete anything associated with the above but to no avail.
What do I need to do?????
thank you

connerlai,

Is there still an entry for HP TopTools in "Add - Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. ??

If not try looking at :-

CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run
LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run

You may also want to look at these:-

CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\RunOnce
LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\RunOnce
LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\RunOnceEx
%WinDir%\Win.ini
%WinDir%\System.ini
Startup Folders
