Was wondering if anyone has had this same issue. Recently after upgrading to NW6.5 using ndps printing (were using 5.1 with ndps) A majority of my Hp network printers will now print only a couple of pages and then stop (on a 25 page job you might get 13 pages) I have tried upgrading firmware but it still did not fix the problem. Not sure if this is because of my 6.5 upgrade or something else???? We went from an IP/IPX environment to pure IP.

is this with pdf's
i've seen it a few times

what driver are you using - try to get the latest ones from hp's site - i tend to stick with the 6pcl if i can

i also prefer to use the novell gateway instead of the hp one

I experienced this - I think a jetdirect firmware upgrade fixed it but we also switched to IPP printing only on our net.

I have noticed this when the latest print drivers are not being used as well.

What JetDirect cards are affected?

I have a mix of jetdirects in Everything from hp2100n to hp1300n. Don't know the exact model right off hand but it started happening after my upgrade to 6.5 and a pure ip environment. Terry, when I create printers in Imanager(Iprint) the only choices are Novell gateway or LPR but I couldn't get novell gateway to work (port 9100) so I had to resort to using NWAdmin which had HP gateway as a choice. Is this a mistake????

Only use HP Gateway if you can't get Novell gateway to work. FYI HP is dropping support for their own gateway and recommending that you use the Novell gateway.

Find a program on HP's site called "HP Download Manager".. it will help you update the firmware on your printers -- necessary for NDPS to work for some older printers.

There is also a TID that tells you the name to give the LPR queue when you're creating it. By default it is 'PASSTHROUGH' but you may need to change it depending on your printer model. The TID is 10080373.

OK, that makes sense now. I will try next week when I get back in the office. Thanks for the replies everyone. Will update when I get back.

Update, swapped all printers over to Novell gateway lpr printers and they work great, thx everyone!!!! Sorry it took so ..

Hey, this thread just saved me a buncha work. I switched to the Novell gateway and my problems disappeared. Thanks, guys!

I'm giving Terry the star 'cause Marvin already got two for it...
