How the heck do you remove the hard drive from this laptop. I see the 2 obvious screws and it begins to slide out than stops. Another engineering marvel from HP
Wild guess - make sure the top part of the laptop (with the screen) is cracked OPEN a bit maybe 2 inches. I've seen some laptop cases that prevent the hard drive from coming out if the top is closed.
Failing that, look for any type of a lock/finger switch.
How much movement do you have before it gets blocked? 5mm, 10mm, etc...?
Are you trying to slide this drive/tray assembly out with the laptop upside down on the table? Maybe part of the tray assembly is catching on the innards - try sliding it out with the laptop the right way up. This may allow the drive to drop fractionally and clear the obstruction.
