HP netserver with Novell 6 install problem

hey

I've got a nice problem:

A client of mine has new HP netserver TC2100 + novell 6
during the installation, the first time you see the novell screen, Novell reboots. I have made the dos-partition during the installation and then you get the novell-screen.
Novell justs beeps and restarts.

I have called HP. They didn't know the problem, so they did a test with the tc2100 and novell 6. They had the same problem and told me to install novell 5 instead of 6.

So HP won't help me and i am hoping that somebody here can help me. I just love the HP helpdesk......NOT (thats no way to solve a problem)

Haven't run into this one my self. Exchange the server for a Compaq brand, if the manufacture doesn't know how to fix it, you options WILL be limited on a resolution. The vendor is oblogated to replace it and so is HP/Compaq (they are the same company now). You will have problems though if you have already tossed the origianl packaging; then you may just have to call up some sales managers in HP and give them a sob story.

With enough complaining about this issue, HP WILL do something. If they have tested thier hardware and came up with the same results as you; and you look at your server docs and there is talk of NetWare compatibility (even lack of notes on incompatibility), then HP should make things right.

Stand tall and scream loud; only two things can happen.
1. You get a nice new Compaq server equivlant to the faulty HP server you purchased.

2. You get screwed, get pissed and never buy HP products again. (IBM is decent, so is Dell, just don't let a Dell onsite tech touch your NetWare server if it runs a RAID)




Make sence why HP has stopped producing Server, Desktops and Notebooks and now use the Compaq arm of thier corporation to product all servers, desktops and notebooks. Compaq was always the leader in the game anyway. Brent Schmidt CNE, Network +

Why do user go into a panic when a NetWare server goes down, but accept it as normal when a Windows server goes down?

I have found the solution (tried it this morning)
I have downloaded the overlay-cd (novell6 install cd with sp2) and it works perfectly. Still don't know what caused it unfortunately.
