Has anyone had a problem with the HP 940c chewing up paper? Every sheet that goes thru seems to get a slight tear in the top middle section of the paper. I've checked everything to see if it's hanging on something and I can't find anything...

I don't have a 940, i've got 600 series inkjets, on those in the middle a feeder pad and a roller come together, Id wonder if there wasnt something stuck on the feeder pad where I couldnt see it.

The following comment is to be used at your own risk.

For a different kind of feeding problem, google searches turn up a suggestion of using sandpaper to rough up the rollers slightly. If the positioning of the tear matches up to where a pad and a roller come together, a possibility might be to put a small piece of very fine sandpaper upside down and feed it through the printer and see if that helps. I suspect that might also have the potential to harm the cartridges so you've got to make your own decision if that's a useful idea or not. (maybe do that with some old empty cartridges in) (The kind of printers I have I can replace very cheaply out of thrift stores if I mess one up.)

A little rubbing alcohol from a qtip on the roller might make it damp enough to pick up something hidden behind it.

Another possibility would be to pick up a manual cd somewhere like an ebay auction and then take it apart and see if you can see something more than you can see now.

Again -- tinkering like that is your risk -- I dont know all the possible things that could go wrong.
