How to upgrade Bios under windows XP

Does anyone know how to upgrade bois under Windows XP.I know it needs to boot in Dos.But as you know XP does not have dos only command.PLEASE HELP!!!!

You should neber attempt a BIOS upgrade from Windows, always from a DOS boot disk. Make a boot disk, you can do this in XP by right clicking on your floppy drive in My Computer, selecting Format and then selecting the option to "Make an MS DOS boot disk". Put your BIOS upgrade and the appropriate upgrade utility on this disk and boot from it and run the flash as per the instructions. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

First, Boot your computer with a basic dos boot disk or a windows 95, or 98 or even ME boot disk (with ME choose "minimal boot" from startup menu). Then insert a floppy with your bios flashing utility, (awardflash, etc. will depend on the brand of bios) and your updated bios,(something.bin)on it. Run your flashing program and enter the name of the file containing your new bios (something.bin). When it asks you to save your old bios DO IT. Just name it something like oldbios.bin. It should ask you if you're sure you want to do this, just press y or type yes and that should do it. Barring a power outage or something equally heinous your bios should be updated. remove the floppy and reboot. If for some reason you don't like the new bios you can re-flash it using the bios file you saved and at least be as well off as you were to begin with. Hope this helps.
