i have tried to figure out how to do this, but in the preferences there is no way to change the action script that i can see. i have posted info on this here but nobody has, so far, responded. I don't know what is up with this? i have the same flash and now tiger osx.

basically, i have roll over buttons with films in them and i want the sound on these buttons and i cannot for the lifeof me figure this out.

I've asked the question on actionscripts, but no answer yet...
Can you try publishing for the Flash Player 6 (under the Flash tab of Publish Settings...), that might do it?

Don't forget to zip it up, as you are on Mac.

As for sounds inserted within buttons's states, the only way to shut them down is to define soundObjects, and control their volume (set it to 0...) that way. Otherwise even if you did set your global sound to 0, sounds on buttons' timelines, would still be heard.

Still can't open that last .fla you posted... It needs to be published for the Flash 6 player, in a MX only format and zipped up.

test.zip crashes my application...

test5.zip, at least only says "unexpected file format"...

Are you now on Flash 8? Or are you still on Flash MX2004?
Are you on Mac or PC?

How come I was able to open your musicnejarine and nejarine .flas, and that I can't open these?

If you're now on Flash 8, you must first open your .fla in MX2004, to be able to save it in a MX only format... You won't be able to do so in Flash 8.

Once in MX2004, in the Publish Settings, under the Flash tab, make sure the .fla is published for the Flash player 6, and then not in the Publish Settings but still under File, you would use SAVE AS... to save a renamed copy of your .fla, changing the Document type (in the Document box), at the bottom of the SAVE AS... window, in a MX only format, not MX2004.

Now if you're on Mac, which I believe you are, you need to zip up this MX only format .fla, so that I can open it on a PC.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait a couple more weeks, till I change my system and OS, and install either MX2004, or Flash 8.

This is an enigma. I am on Flash 7.2 and I did just this! The only thing that has changed, and now I strongly suspect culprit, is that I have the new OSX on my machine. Nejarine was sent from Panther and I am on Tiger. I will wait for you to get set up. I have an installation piece to prepare for Barcelona and plenty of students for whom I must prepare lectures.

Peace,
