Hellow,

We all know that we can go to some internet site just by googling "test dns" to test wether our dns server is properly configured and working. From inside my net Nslookup allows me to see if the dns server is resolving queries.. (sometimes it does, sometimes not) but it doesn´t check anything else.

Is there any tool that can check throughly my dns configuration, working status and security from inside my net... Can I do a stress test on the dns server?

Best Regards.

Depends on what type of DNS server you are using. From the perspective of Windows 2000/2003 there are built-in tools in the DNS console that will test simple and recursive queries. For more sophisticated tools you can the netdiag utility among others.
If you would like to test performance of your DNS environment, the performance monitoring tool can provide statistics on how well DNS is faring.
I am sure there is a whole slew of similar tools available under Unix/Linux
Hope this helps.
