How to stop users logon locally.

Dear All,

Is it possible to stop users from loging on locally on
WINNT workstations, when the domain is unavaiable.

Can you stop the workstation from using the locally
stored profile?

We have users, pulling the network cable out
so they can log on and mess with the workstations?

ARRRRGGGHH KIDS.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if this is applicable in your network setup. But you might want to take a look at the User Rights of the workstation. You can access it by running user manager, User rights. There's a portion there where you can identify who are those authorized to log on locally.

It might also be of help, that no local user should be a member of the local admin group.

I suggest that you get hold of a copy of the book Windows NT Registry. Published by O'Reilly ISBN 1-56592-378-2. This book lists anumber of things that can be done to prvent users "playing" with an NT system.

users can only log on locally if they are registered on the local workstation and their profile is available on the workstation. If you need to register users on the local workstations give them no rights to mess with the local settings. Have you tried policy editor
