Entering numeric data and encounter the following problem.<br>field 1 - enter (say) value 3<br>field 2 - enter (say) value 4<br>Moving to field 3, access automatically fills it with the value 5. How on earth do you stop it from automatically filling in numeric series? This problem didn't exist in Access 97, but it sure does in Access 2000. All help gratefully received....

Well first check the code for the controls if you are using a form. Could someone else have added code to do this on purpose?<br><br>If nothing there then check the default value properties for the field in the table and form.<br><br>Let's go from there.

I actually built the database from scratch, so there are no strange things hidden by someone else. I have also tried different default values and Access overrides the defaults when it automatically enters new values. I'm only working in tables, not using any forms, and no calculated fields. Any other clues? Thanks for ideas so far

I reproduced this in 2000 also. When in table design datasheet view as soon as I save the table it stops it also stops as soon as I put in a number out of the sequence. Use design view instead. ;)

Um, call me thick, but how do you data entry in design view? I have tried saving and doesn't seem to switch the problem off. Please tell me I just didn't understand your reply properly. Thanks
