I have a form with contact information for clients, including their e-mail addresses.

How do I create a button on the form that will open up a new message in Outlook Express?

NB
1. Outlook Express is not the default e-mail client (and cannot be made so)

2. I would like to be able to edit the e-mail addresses

3. I am not very good with Access but I can follow instructions

First I'm guessing what you are trying to accomplish.
Step I:
Create a Macro for email
Open a new marco and in the action box select SEND OBJECT

In the action arguments use the drop down arrow to select
Object Type
Object Name
Output format (I prefer snapshot as it will export all lines, colors and is read only format)
Leave To, Cc, Bcc blank

Set Edit message to YES

Save the marco as EMAIL

Step II:
Open the form in view mode and from the toolbox create a command button

From the properties of the command button
click on Event Tab and in
ON CLICK event use the drop down arrow and select email

Hope this is what you were looking for.

If you are trying to export what you see on the form by means of an email there is another way to do it.
Let me know and I can post the codes for it.

Thanks for your reply PPJOSEPH,

Question 1 - Will this open a new e-mail in Outlook Express which is not my default e-mail client?

Question 2 - Where do I go to begin creating a new macro?

I am not trying to export any of the data from the form, just trying to use Access for a simple contact database with the ability to create an e-mail from within it.

It should work. Try it

To create a macro: (Depending on the version you are using)
Access 2000
In the database window, under objects you will find MACROS

Single click on MACROS and

Single click on New

In the first line under Action use the downward arrow and select SENDOBJECT

In the Action Arguments (towards the bottow of the screen)
leave everything blank but change EDIT MESSAGE to YES

Click on SAVE and name it EMAIL

Then follow Step II above.

Try it for yourself if it opens Outlook Express
