Hi,
Our Server was rebuilt (Solaris8), and now the history won't work anymore, we using ksh, we used to be able to press escape key and press 'k' or 'h' to cycle through the history. What do I do to bring this back?

Thanks

How can I enable this (history recall) for Root in the /bin/sh shell?

this feature is Shell dependant, it just works in bash, ksh and tcsh (is one missing?) but not in /bin/sh and not in /sbin/sh (at least Sun Solaris); I recommend NOT TO CHANGE the default login shell for root! You are better of login in and starting a new shell as a first step...
