How to set up Proxy Server for chatroom login

Am trying to allow login to a chatroom which requires username & password. Works ok on server machine, but not on 2nd machine. Using Win98, SpoonProxy. Can anyone out there tell me way to configure (i.e. is another port opening required, do I need to give proxy program login & password etc).
Thanks for any advice.
