Hi everybody.

How can I set restrictions so an user can do nothing else than surfing on the Web once he logs on for example.

I'd like to thank all the people who take out the time to provide such good tips in this forum.

Thanks in advance.

Fred

If ur computers are in LAN, then use group policy to disable all other programs to run except internet explorer.

Thanks Bickyz

I appreciate your help. Can you please give me more details as it's my first time doing that.

thanks in advance.

niara - is this a domain, workgroup or standalone machine?

If 2k domain - you need to use Active Directory (and Forum96, 2k server forum would be more useful for you)

If its workgroup/standalone, have a look at local group policies (run gpedit.msc).
User Configuration|Administrative Templates|System|Run only allowed Windows applications may be useful (have a browse trough what's available). Also, look at to prevent locking yourself (as Administrator) out too.

Also, you can edit their start menu to remove entries and set permissions (assuming ntfs filestore) on the program files folder (and all its subfolders - except perhaps Common files) to deny this user access.
