How to set default header font in adobe acrobat 7?

Hi,
Does anyone know a way of setting the default header font in acrobat? Ours always sets itself to arial 8 point. We want it to be times new roman 10 point.

There must be a way of doing this globally so we don't have to set it individually in every pdf??

Maybe I am thick but isn't the header font size determined by the source document rather than the PDF?

i'm assuming you have adobe acrobat....
Open Word (or whatever word processor you use).
Type a few lines, convert the doc to a pdf.
From the Document menu bar select 'Add Headers & Footers'.
The header and footer window opens and the font is Arial, the size is 8-point.

So we have tons of word docs that we have to convert to pdfs, each one needs an official header and footer - these have to be in 10-point Times New Roman.

Not only can i not find a way to re-set this default but every time I change the font I can't simply hightlight 'Arial' and type 'T' to get to Times New Roman, I have to scroll thru the list.

This is starting to look like a very tedious job to me, so i'm hoping that i've missed something....

Yes, it seems that there is no such option in Acrobat 7.
You can save them in Acrobat 9 though.

In Acrobat 7, you will probably have to create a small JavaScript to do this.
Check into the "addWatermarkFromText" method. With that you can add headers through Javascript and also determine font and font size.

i'm not a programmer but i had a look. This kind of thing looks like it can set the default font and size

So that's great....
And it's so close to being the answer.... but in the end it still doesn't save the time.
A batch process would be good if we had the same header and footer on each page, or even ones with dynamic variables. But what we have is the name of the author in each footer.
So even by batch process we'd have to edit each footer - but when you edit a header/footer in adobe you're right back to square one - i.e. 8-point arial :-(

Hard to see how adobe could miss out such a basic feature as not being able to set defaults til version 8. Or even why you can't edit a header that you've just set. But like i said, i'm not a programmer - maybe there's a good reason.
on the other hand the one benefit of spending too long on this is that i finally found a real reason to upgrade ;-)

So you could set the footer text in the Javascript by reading the "author" value from the "docXMP" metadata.

For tons of docs, you might want to give a little automation via script a chance after all!

Too bad I'm not too good at Acrobat scripting myself, being more of a VisualBasic guy and Acrobat hardly supporting any VB scripting at all...
