Hello everybody,

The following is my question:

At present, the report can only be obtained in hard copy. How to save the report in electronic form so that there is a choice of printing or included in other application (Email, other report etc)?

Thanks for your help in advance!

More info needed - how is the report generated ?? where is it coming from ?? is it from an internal or external source ?? By "hardcopy" do you mean you recieve it hardcopy or you can only print it off ??

Sorry I did not state it clearly. We have a project developed using Access 97, the report is from internal source. Right now, when user click "print" button in a form, the report will be printed immediately.

Thanks.

Well if you have a report in Access 97 then it is already included in the database - it should be accessible already

There are a couple of options here. one is to set up a printer that writes to a file. if the report has a lot of graphics pdf printer software is the ticket. One consideration is that once you save the report to a file, inevetable someone will need information from the report to go into further processing. at which point you will best be served by haveing the report printed to a generic printer set to file. then you can open the report with you favorite tool and give results as needed.

Im not sure on your version of access but xp and later have the option to send reports to html.

if it is to be it's up to me

Take a look at the DoCmd.OutputTo method.

Hope This Helps, PH.

A wild stab in the dark here - but I take it the report changes on a day to day basis and you want to save the instance of that report. There are 2 ways of doing this:

Print the report as a pdf, saving the result to a structured filename

Have it so that the report can be regenerated for any date.

The latter is more efficient, but you really need to give more information about the report, what you are capable of doing within the database and what you are trying to achieve.

If at first you don't succeed, try for the answer.
