I don't have much experience with Arcserve and my nightly backups are failing. It seems that the scratch set has to do with it? Can someone help?

Thanks in advance!

What version are you using? How many tapes?

What are you trying to accomplish with the Rotation?

We are using v.9 and we have a 10 tape backup system. I am new with arcserve and they want me to figure out why the backups arn't running right. They have a media called "main" with save set and scratch set under it. The days Mon. through Friday are in the save set.

So they have a job running to a custom Media Pool? What are the media pool criteria? Min # of tapes, retention days, etc.

If your not familiar with how the previous admin set things up, then maybe you should use the Wizard to setup a new rotation and introduce these tapes into the new rotation.

On another post someone gave me the location of the manuals so I'm going to start all over and redo the old jobs. Thanks again! I'm sure you will be hearing from me!

Make sure the tapes are all part of the media pool. If they tapes are erased prior to use they will automatically be formated and introduced into the media pool. Tapes can also be introduced into the media pool from the media pool window, right click on the scratch set and select assign.
