how to retrieve space on HD

When I count the used space and add it to the available space it does not add up. I'm missing some 750mb. My other drives are fine but drive C is not. I lost that space about 2 months ago and I can't retrieve it now. I defragmented the drive, got rid of my back-ups, internet files and temp. What can I do now???

Did you try just scan disk? I was missing somewhere near 2 gigs, and I ran scandisk and it caught it as being misreported.

sorry, not system file checker, thats different, its called error checking. Right click on the drive, select properties, and select the tools tab, then error checking is in there,

Is the 750MB that is missing down to your pagefile?

what do you mean. When I count the space used, by counting every folder in drive C, it is not a match with what's displayed as used size..

and Jroenick, I tried that, it does not help...
