Hi,

We do not have an exported Oracle dump file but I understand we could restore the corrupted dump file from an unix ufsdump.

Restore the whole oradata directory. After that, what's the next step ? Anyone can advise how to go about doing it ?

How about the oracle dump file(if we created next time)? how are we going to restore a particular corrupted table ?

Thanks in Advance. I'm not a DBA just being tasked to recover a table corrupted by a users. =(

Use ufsrestore -xvf <your tape device> to restore your whole oradata directory. You can use -tvf first to check that you're restoring the correct data. Then, it should be just a matter of restarting the restored database and applying any archive logs, if you have them.

Use the table option to imp to restore just a table from a dmp file - tables=(table1,table2) for example.

Another thought - could you could possibly extract the ufsrestore to another box, startup the database and then export the table you require, ready for reimporting it into your existing database?

Thanks Ken for the tips, the above method should works just fine.

Will test it out soon.

Thanks a lot.
