How to reset password - ASAP

Hey I just wanted to know how to reset a password on a Windows 2003 server? I have to do this right away and need to know how? Am I changing it the password or resetting it? Not sure if there is a difference.

In Active Directory Users and Computers. Find the use account to change password. Right-click and select reset password. This will change/reset the password. Either way you put it, the password will be whatever you type in the input box.

Are you wanting to change/reset the administor account password? Is this a member server or a domain controller? Either way, it's the same concept. Select administrator and reset password. However, if it's a domain controller keep in mind that you'll be resetting the domain administrator password.

Bear in mind the advice from previous posters, but if you can log into the server using your account, just simply press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and choose Change Password.

There is no password for the individual server. You can change the password for accounts. The local admin would be the closest to switching a password for a individual server. As mentioned by monsterjta, go to AD users and computers and change the local admin password.

It's possible he means the AD Directory Restore Password that you enter when setting up the server, or as Teknoratti says the local admin "administrator" account.
