How to reset font in WinXP?

Recently I have installed some language related software (it's chinese actually), and then some of my other softwares' fonts are messed up. I tried to uninstall that language software but the mess is not yet fixed. I'm wondering if there's a way to reset the fonts to the original settings in WinXP.

ps: there are some chinese fonts in the font folder, but when I try to delete them, it says the fonts are currently being used and cannot be deleted.

If you boot into safe mode you should be able to delete the fonts.

As they are in use it seems one of the programs you installed is still active and starts on startup, so if you remove these fonts it might cause this program to crash. So if you don't need it anymore uninstall it as well as the fonts.

If you know which fonts are bad you should be able to copy them from another pc or find them on your windows cd, but I'm not sure which of the cab files holds the fonts so its probably easier to copy them from another pc.

Since there's a possibility that the pc will hang if I deleted some useful fonts, is there any better solutions?

I found that my MS Visual C++'s font is also messed up already. I tried to change the setting but it do not work, even if I change it to something common like New Courier.

I dont think your pc will hang if you remove the chinese fonts but your specific program might crash.

Before you remove any font's try and copy the normal windows xp fonts from a diffrent system over to the system with bad fonts. Hopefully that should restore all the broken fonts and solve your problem with Visual C++ etc.

If you still have problems I would remove the program(s) that caused the problems and remove the fonts thats causing problems, then copy working fonts from another pc.
